Apple is leveraging the power of its Vision Pro headset to reimagine how fans experience live music, starting with heavy metal legends Metallica.
In a unique offering, Vision Pro users can now view an immersive mini-concert titled Metallica: Spatial Experience, captured during the final two nights of the band’s M72 World Tour in Mexico City in late 2023.
Available for free via Apple TV, the experience includes performances of three iconic tracks: “Enter Sandman,” “One,” and “Whiplash.” But this is far from a standard concert video. The footage was shot using 14 high-resolution cameras specifically designed for spatial video.
The result is a 180-degree, ultra-realistic audiovisual environment enhanced with spatial audio, bringing fans into the middle of the action. Viewers can explore different perspectives: on stage, among the crowd in the so-called “Snake Pit,” and even from behind the scenes.
Apple’s intention is clear: to show what spatial computing can offer in the entertainment space.
